Getting a BMW options list

  1. Free option decoder: bimmer.work

An enthusiast-run decoder that lists the factory option (SA) codes for a BMW VIN, with configuration images. It sits behind a captcha and may limit lookups; coverage of the newest cars varies.

  2. Free option decoder: mdecoder

A long-running free BMW decoder (full 17-character VIN). It may apply daily limits.

  3. Ask a BMW dealer's service desk

Any franchised BMW dealer can look up the vehicle order and option list from the VIN in the manufacturer's system. Many will print or email it on request, sometimes for free and sometimes for a small fee. Call the service desk rather than sales.

  4. Paid build sheet

Licensed build-data reports list installed options for BMW. Use one if the free decoders don't cover your car.

  5. Buying? Pair it with a history report

A build sheet tells you how the car left the factory. Title brands, accidents and odometer records are a separate check: a vehicle history report (NMVTIS-backed) covers those.

FAQ

Can I see my BMW's options from the VIN?
