Affiliate disclosure
Last updated: October 2026
Car Codebook is free to use. To keep it that way, some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, such as a vehicle history report, a window sticker, a factory build sheet or touch-up paint, we may earn a commission from the seller. You pay the same price either way.
Which links are affiliate links
Affiliate links appear only in clearly labelled places: the “Full vehicle history report” box on VIN reports, window-sticker and build-sheet partner boxes, the one-line history-report link on recall pages, history-report steps in brand guides, and parts and paint boxes. Each one says “Sponsored” or “affiliate” next to the link and links back to this page. In the page code they carry rel="sponsored nofollow".
Links to NHTSA, vehicle manufacturers, the official NMVTIS provider list and free enthusiast decoders are never affiliate links.
Partners we currently earn from are listed on the partners page.
How this affects our content
Commissions never change what a VIN report, recall page or brand guide says. Recall, complaint and specification data comes straight from NHTSA, free routes (manufacturer window-sticker services, dealers, official records) are always listed first, and partners do not review or approve anything we publish. A history report is not a substitute for an independent pre-purchase inspection.
Click counting
When you click a partner link we count the click (partner name and which box it was in) with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores no personal identifiers. The partner may set its own cookie after you arrive on its site so it can credit the referral; that is covered by the partner's privacy policy.
Not affiliated with manufacturers or NHTSA
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NHTSA or any vehicle manufacturer, including Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, or by any partner beyond the referral arrangement described here.
